The Princess departs her grounds

leave a comment »

I though it was going to be for a little while. Say our usual summer good-byes to meet to again in fall. But not this time. Sara de Princess was actually going to be gone for more than a summer break, more than two or three. Or is she? Well I got my fingers crossed that our path would soon cross, but until then the Island would definitely miss her. Good thing it has more than one crowned princess. Take care Sara and see you soon in C-country

OneWeek in AgVa (Turkey)

with one comment

Hey people, it’s sure been a while. yeah? Concluded exams and got into the holiday spirit. Yeah, speaking about holidays, I was at Agva (3 hours from Istanbul) for one week I attended an Only English Camp put together by the Youth Agenda Organization. I was there as a trainer and it was quite an experience.
Meeting with Alex and Skye – the other two trainers from Bath (England) and Texas(USA) respectively. It was also finally meeting Sima and amazing individual who’s got a move of making impact which I dearly admire. Ozlem was also somewhat interesting – a good dancer and “party girl” but then gave me a shocker at the end.
Sinem and Yeshim – the duo girls, you would have to see them for yourselves. Psycho-Seda: Hmmm! don’t even want to get started on that. Ozgur, Mert, Gozde, Volcan Volkan, and the last but no least – Esra. You should see her doing her thing on the mic and dance floor – never seen a turkish girl move that good. We sure had an awesome parting.
I’d miss you all and hope our path cross soon. For those I did not mention like – Burcu, Saygin, my secret friend – Ezgi, Melis, Z-girl, Yamur, Burak, my co BJK fan – Ilker, Sirin and her lil brother with whom I went hiking the mountains on the last day in Agva; the wonderful crew at Kurfal and Secret Garden and all who I forgot to mention; I wish luck in future endeavours.
With love from Kibiris.

Our Humanity: The Haiti Platform

leave a comment »

Who is to blame? Who do we hold accountable for this? Who should be brought to the stands to give answers for the reason why the Haitians are scattered all over the place? Forty Seconds! Not even up to a minute and a whole nation is up in riuns.

A friend said “I never knew of Haiti until now, and look what now I know them for”. For what reason have this befallen them? After all it’s said that “there is a reason for everything”. Anybody got a reason why a boy is crushed under the weight of solid concrete debris.

I’ve tried so hard to see the silver-lining, and no matter how hard I try to dismiss it, maybe because of it’s infinitesimal magnitude in comparison to the earthquakes’ or maybe I never thought poor Haiti could experience anything worse, but then it keeps coming to me – a test of our Humanity.

Happuna! Haitiness!

Chewed off the fog! Tasted like Mist!

leave a comment »

Well you can consider this as one way for me to avoid being seen as confused. But now you know guess there’s no need for that. So why the confusion between fog and mist. Well I thought of mist from some movies I saw a few years ago. White cloud close to the biosphere and some monster hidden in it. And fog? Well simple weather-channel.
I got off the bus this morning, and it was quite a clear day. It was around 8.20 am, so it was not news that it was a bit chilly on a february morning. So I headed to the bank for some transaction which give-or-take, would have taken (not given) about 30 minutes tops. After which I headed for work, but then I noticed the white thick clouds surrounding me.
That’s no metaphor! They were really there and soon I had water-logged eyes. So was it mist or fog? I dunno! Does it really matter? Well depends on how you look at it. Let’s just say for knowledge sake, I looked up the weather website and to my surprise Humidity: 94% (that’s water content in air); Visibility: 2 miles. Then I looked up the dictionary and noticed Fog and Mist are kind of the same thing with the only difference as Mist reduces visibility to a lesser degree than Fog.
Well I think I’ve seen worse, so this would have to be…… Go Figure!

Happuna! Fogimistness!

2010….it begins

leave a comment »

Yeah, first post of the new year – 2010! I tell everyone, it’s sure going to be an amazing year. I feel it in my bones. So I’ve been coming across many themes, catch-phrases, new year resolutions, and just new stuff people are saying. Some of them interesting, some just for morale boosting, but then I have set some for myself.
Here are a few:
Catch Phrase: Start to finish!
Years’ word: Accomplishment
Color: Shades of Purple
Genre: Jazz, Rock, Pop rock, Aternative rock, Soul
I also made some new year resolutions (you know those stuff we say and don’t really look at after Feb 15th). Well I do hope I keep some of them. Yeah, I hope I actually keep 2 of ’em. If I got those two right, I think others would fall into place. Which 2? C’mmon! It’s personal… respect the boundaries 😀
Alright folks. I wish you all an amazing year, because this is a unique year and it’s gonna be like no other! Like it could be! Hello! We cannot have another 2010! So I urge you to make the use of it!
Lot’s of love from kinda-still-warm-in-winter-island
Happuna! NewYearNess!

Visit to ANTALYA – “heaven on earth”

leave a comment »

Antalya- it was a dream destination for me in my periodical Turkish tours. I had been to Istanbul, Ankara, Eskisehir and just needed to see Antalya in person and not in the airplane magazines. When I got the news that we were going to be lodging at the Le Chateau De Prestige Hotel in Antalya, I don’t know which made me more excited the hotel or the city in which the hotel was.

In a nutshell, It was an amazing experience, the people, the food – hmmm! you don’t want me to get started with the food; the activities, the chats and roll-calls, the LC simulations, the parties, the suspense, the nose-grazing and stirring, the songs, the fame, the gossip, the smash box, the HEPSI
Did come back with the flu (not the swine flu), was in bed for the weekend and now up and running with exams around the corner, but if there is one thing I got from my trip to Antalya, it’s that…….. I’d have to get back to you on that.
Happuna! Burcuseniness!
