Why Easter is important for all mankind!

Hello everybody! Easter is here and I know some of you reading might not know the significance, but I’ll give reason(s) to be concerned.

For Christians: I don’t need to start preaching 😛 It’s said that the death and resurrection of Christ – Jesus was during the period of Easter. The Good Friday was when he was put to death, or not to step on toes, when he chose to die for the world. And after 3 days, he resurrected i.e tomorrow – Sunday. So it’s really significant and important we celebrate it.

For Non-Christians (also potentials): Most of us are aware of the dating system but we often leave out an important part. The historians would appreciate this. We have two date lines and both have their reference points to a strand of years.

  • B.C: meaning before Christ, is a date line that was used before the birth of Christ – Jesus. And as you would expect it was one the diminished i.e you would be in 2000B.C and the next year would be 1999B.C until 1B.C and on 0B.C Christ was born.
  • A.D: meaning “after the Death of Christ”, is a date line we use till today. so it’s 2009 but its actually 2009A.D. And as well all know its increases and not decreases like the case of B.C
So what happened during the 33 years of Christ’s life on earth? What dating system did they use? Did no one count the days, months and years? Well you go figure! But One man, One prophet, One God, has his life as a reference point to how we measure time and date. I think that’s pretty significant. I therefore wish you all a happy Easter again.

Happuna Easterness!
